Additional Comments:
Duke has been at Running Wheels Gypsy since 2006 and he has been an absolute pleasure to be around, breed, and train. He has such a proud, outgoing and curious personality. He loves to be around people and always greets his company, human and horse alike with a friendly nicker. He is a great horse under saddle, anywhere from the riding ring and going over cross-rails to going out on the trail either by himself or with one of his pasture mates. He is currently in training to be a driving horse as well! Not only has he proven himself to be a great horse to work around and ride, but in addition he has proven himself to be a magnificent sire. As well as having great bloodlines Duke also has the confirmation and temperament that are ideal for a breeding Gypsy stallion. His offspring have all had the same willing, confident, eager to please attitude that he has, along with flawless movement, impeccable confirmation, and gorgeous feathering. Duke stands 14.2 hh. Duke was sired by The PO Stallion. The PO Stallion was half brother to The Lion King, arguably the finest Gypsy Stallion of his generation. The Lion King was also known for passing his fine qualities on to his get. The PO Stallion is recognized in the Gypsy horse world as one of the "best of the best" stallions. Duke was imported by Black Forest Shires and Gypsy Horses. They also imported The Lion King, owning him until his untimely death. The PO Mare, dam to both The Lion King and The PO Stallion was also known for the quality of her offspring. Genetically horses get half of their DNA from each parent so it is as important to breed from good quality mares as it is to have good stallions. The PO Mare was one of those special mares who produced exceptional foals. We are quite proud to have Duke on our farm.
